Elemum Reusable Pads by bumGenius Review
If you use cloth diapers the name Cottonbabies, the maker of brands like bumGenius should ring a bell. Did you know that the popular cloth diaper brand also makes reusable pads? Elemum is a reusable pad brand by bumGenius and I’ve been using them for a few months. Do they stand up to the quality of other Cottonbabies products? Read below to find out!
Elemum cloth pads are designed for light bladder leakage and menstrual care. The pads come measure around 8″ in length and have a single snap on the wings. Available in packs of 3, the waterproof or color portion is currently available in organic cotton with a synthetic waterproof backing.

Elemum pads say that they are designed for light use and this is true. I wouldn’t consider these heavy or moderate day menstrual pads but they are great liners. They are ideal for light days, light bladder leaks and menstrual cup backup.
Due to their 8″ length, I would not rely on these pads for overnight or front or back bleeding. I personally prefer a longer pad. If you like liners and shorter light day pads these are great! However, if you need pads for postpartum or overnight use they fall short…quite literally.
Due to the waterproof PUL backing these tend to slide around on my underwear. I have found this to be true with all pads backed with PUL and I personally prefer windpro fleece as a backing because it’s water-resistant and stays in place more reliably. That being said, PUL is really the only way to get 100% waterproofness and it’s very thin compared to fleece.
I love that bumGenius is making pads! These are great for light use and may move around a bit due to their PUL backing. They’re priced at $39.99 USD for a 3 pack making them a bit expensive at around $13.33 per pad.
They wash well and I’ve had a great amount of luck removing stains simply by sunning for a few hours when wet! Due to their natural color, they will never be completely stain-free from reusable menstrual blood which is okay with me. Read more about removing stains from cloth pads.
I admit to being a bit confused about the pad information. I’ve been on several websites that say the maker is bumGenius and I’ve also found them simply under Cottonbabies. I can’t find details about the layers of fabric and have seen them listed as “stay dry” while the pad itself feels and looks like the organic cotton listed in it’s materials. I did call the company and if I can fill in any of these blanks I will update the post.
